Province of Ascoli Piceno

The Ascoli Piceno (Italian Provincia di Ascoli Piceno) province is a province of the Marche region. Capital is Ascoli Piceno. It has around 208,000 inhabitants in 33 municipalities covering an area of 1,227 km ².

The province is bordered on the north by the province of Fermo, and on the northwest by the province of Macerata, through the only small community Castelsantangelo sul Nera, in the Apennine mountain chain called the Monti Sibillini, on the east by the Adriatic Sea, on the south by the Abruzzi ( province of Teramo) and Lazio ( Rieti Province ) and on the southwest by the Umbria ( Perugia Province ).

For their achievements in the partisan struggle during the Second World War, the province was awarded the Medaglia d' oro al valor militare. In 2004, the newly created province of Fermo was separated, which was fully functional with the elections to the Provincial Council in 2009
