A total of about 2068 locomotives were built G 3 Normal type. The G 3 differed from the Prussian G 4.1 by their lower boiler pressure of 10 bar compared to 12 bar at T 4.1. From 1886, only the design was further expanded with the higher boiler pressure. Some locomotives were later boiler with the higher boiler pressure and were then classified as T 4.1. A G 3 won the top division of the Berlin- Dresden railway at the Royal Saxon State Railways and received a generic V the name Tellkoppe.

As reparation came to the end of World War II three piece as FS 271001-003 to the Italian State Railways ( FS).
