Przezmark, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship

Przezmark ( German Prussian Mark, formerly Preuschmark ) is a village in the rural community Elbląg in the powiat Elblaski (Kreis Elbing ) of the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.

Geographical location

Przezmark is located in West Prussia, about 9 kilometers southeast of the city of Elbląg on the Elbing 's height ( Wysoczyzna Elbląska ) and 25 kilometers south from the open Baltic Sea beach. The village is located at an altitude of about 116 meters above sea level. The running in the north-eastern border of Poland with Russia is about 40 kilometers away.

History

The all similar sounding older place names of Prussian Mark as Pruyszmarck or Preuschmark be attributed to the fact that the old Prussian Kirchdorf was Mark was formerly a well-known trading center, a, Prussian market '. Before the end of the Second World War, the Prussian Mark belonged to the district of Elbing in Danzig- West Prussia, Regierungsbezirk Danzig. The main source of income of the village was agriculture. In 1939 the village had 246 inhabitants.

The region was placed under Polish administration after the war. The village was the Polish name Przezmark. As a result of flight and expulsion of the population is Polish today. The village currently has about 120 inhabitants.
