On the origin of the family Koppernigk

Leopold Prowe and Maximilian Curtze suggest that the ancestors of Nicolaus Copernicus from the former Köpprich, and not from Kopernik come near Neisse. They base their decisions on an article by Augustin Knötel, the Georg Bender probative confronts by first eliminates the possibility that the hamlet Köpprich comes as the origin in question and then sets out the reasons for which to view Köppernig at Nysa as the origin of Koppernigk family is. On the basis of the article by Bender this assumption is recognized today. In addition to the late first mention of the place he bases his presentation on an onomastic derivation. He presented the contradiction between Knötels assertion by local tradition hot Köpprich actually Köpper Nick and his testimony against stehenen, the majority of the name loud popularly the Köpprige. Be this assumption is correct, could because of the missing letters actually n his accomplished derivation from the German word copper take place, but not a derivation of the family name Koppernigk, which, even if it would otherwise written in deviation during his frequent occurrence in different places, always that n would retain in the final syllable. Moreover, were neither in Köpprich yet been demonstrated in Köppernig old copper mining and Knötels attempt to construct a mixed Polish German word for copper Kupfernik graves impossible.
