Public holidays in the Czech Republic
In the Czech Republic the holidays are officially ( by the law 245/2000 Sb ) in state and other holidays (both as a day of rest from work ) divided. In addition, other important days are named. Not all holidays that are familiar from Christian, especially Catholic dominated countries (such as Ascension), are known in the Czech Republic as a holiday.
Significant days
The mentioned in the Act 245/2000, two important days (March 12 and May 5) were supplemented by amendments 101/2004 Sb and 129/2006 Sb for another day. Currently, there are:
- January 27 - Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust and crimes against humanity
- March 8 - International Women's Day
- March 12 - the date of accession of the Czech Republic to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO )
- April 7 - Day of Education
- May 5 - May Uprising of the Czech nation ( this started on 1 May 1945 in the territories occupied by Germany. )
- May 15 - Day of Families
- June 10 - the day of the destruction of Lidice
- June 27 - Day of the Victims of the Communist Regime
- November 11 - Day of War Veterans
