The Transports publics de la région lausannoise, abbreviated TL or tl, ( German Public Transport of the Lausanne region ) are a transport operation in the Swiss city of Lausanne and 38 adjacent municipalities in urbanized. The registered name of the company is Transports publics de la Région Lausannoise SA. TL operates the trolley Lausanne with ten lines, 22 bus routes, a light rail line and a metro line. All lines together have a total length of 224.3 km ( as of 2005). Over 77 million passengers are carried annually.

The company is owned 67 percent of the city of Lausanne and the busy urban districts, 26 percent of the Canton of Vaud, private to four percent of the Banque Cantonal Vaudoise and three percent shareholders. Rail

History

The first street railway lines in the " Tramways Lausannois » ( TL) went on 1 September 1896 in operation.
