Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica Serapio (consul 138 BC)

Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica Serapio († 132 BC in Pergamon ) was a Roman senator of the 2nd century BC

The son of two-time consul Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica corculum was since 141 BC Pontifex Maximus; in the year 138 BC, he was himself consul. As leader of the Optimates he had in 133 BC significant share of the murder of his relatives Tiberius Gracchus. To save him from the vengeance of the Populares, he was sent by the Senate to an advanced mission to Asia. He died a short time later in Pergamon. The nickname was given to him by Serapio tribune Gaius Curatius for its resemblance to a certain Serapio, a merchant of offerings.
