Publius Iuventius Celsus

Publius Iuventius Celsus Titus Aufidius Hoenius Severian was a Roman politician, Senator and lawyer. To distinguish him from his father, the lawyers Iuventius Celsus ( Celsus pater ), it is referred to as " Celsus filius ".

Origin

The full name of the lawyer has been handed down in D. 5, 3, 20, 6, but with two distortions: instead Titus stated in the Digest Titius, instead Hoenius (for which of course Oenius could be written ). Oenus, a word structure that is nowhere else attested as a name. Celsus probably came from northern Italy. While the family of luventii Celsi can not be traced further back, allowing the other name of the younger Celsus determining that Celsus filius was connected with the family of Hoenii Severi. Life
