Puligny-Montrachet

The community Puligny -Montrachet in Burgundy ( Bourgogne ), Côte-d'Or department in France, is one of the famous wine-growing villages of the Côte de Beaune. It is located with 397 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) and an area of 7.28 km ² at an altitude 217-435 m above the sea on the departmental road 113a, about 300 meters west of the National Road 74, the Route des Grands crus, in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune and Santenay between Meursault. Distance to Beaune is twelve kilometers.

Viticulture in Puligny -Montrachet

Of the fine, fruity white wines of this area of the famous writer Alexandre Dumas is said to have raved and assured, these wines would have " kneeling and with uncovered head " be drunk.

It also very full-bodied, fragrant rich red wines are produced.
