Puriri is a small village in the Hauraki Plains, New Zealand. Administratively it belongs to the Thames - Coromandel District Waikato region. It lies about 14 km southeast of Thames.

Puriri was originally a settlement of the Ngati Maru. Henry Williams and three other missionaries visited them in 1833. She then founded a mission station, which was acquired in 1834 by James Preece with the assistance of James Hamlin. 1838 was the site of the station to Parawai, now part of the municipality of Thames transferred.

1868 was during the gold rush in the region Thames - Coromandel at Puriri an official gold mining area.

Education

The Puriri School is a co-educational primary school for 1st - 8th grade, she had 2010 22 students and a decile rating of 7 The school celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2003.
