Purmo is part of the municipality Pedersöre in Finnish Ostrobothnia landscape with about 1400 inhabitants. The majority of the inhabitants are Finland Sweden.
Purmo consists of the villages Lillby, Nederpurmo ( FIG. Ala- Purmo ) aVist and Överpurmo ( FIG. Yli- Purmo ). The place was 1868-1976 an independent municipality. By a law Summary of municipalities in January 1977 Purmo was incorporated into the present municipality Pedersöre.
The site covers an area of 261.0 km2 and had in the community Äuflösung 1711 inhabitants. On January 1, 2012 lived in Purmo only 1433 inhabitants.
Attractions
The so-called " traffic controllers " in Överpurmo is Finland's largest boulder. There is an open air museum in Purmo ( Fagerbacka fäbodställe ) to life around 1900 and remains of a neolithic settlement ( Hundbacka ).
The wooden church in Purmo is from the year 1772.
