Purpura

Under Purpura refers speckled capillary bleeding in the skin, subcutaneous tissue ( subcutis ) or mucous membranes (skin blood flow ). The individual bleeding can be point-like ( petechiae ), rarely also in strip form ( VibeX ), small areas ( ecchymosis ) or areal ( Suggilation ).

The cause of purpura is a bleeding tendency ( bleeding diathesis, " blood passage " ) by, for example:

  • Diseases of the blood vessels (vasculitis )
  • Damage to the platelets ( thrombocytopathy )
  • Toxic- allergic coagulation disorders (for example, by drugs or infection)
  • Congestion ( stasis )
  • Radiation sickness

Purpura usually occurs on the lower extremities. The blood stains are initially red, later they change color by reduction of hemoglobin to brown and green to yellow.

Unlike erythema stains do not disappear when the pressure on the corresponding location.
