Püspökladány

Püspökladány is a Hungarian town and the administrative seat of the homonymous small area Püspökladány in eastern Hungary.

Geography

The Hortobágy Berettyó flows along the municipal border with Karcag. Püspökladány borders the counties Jasz -Nagykun -Szolnok and Békés and the following communities:

History

The first human settlement traces are about 4000 years old Katakombengräber. Isolated finds in the municipal area can be assigned to Árpád, they are dated to the period between the 10th and the 11th century. The first written mention dates back to 1351, at that time still listed under Ladan.

Traffic

Through the town the road leads Europe 60 from the both the main road branches off to the 42 Ártánd and the European Route 573 to Uzhgorod. Here the railway line Békéscsaba - Püspökladány ends ( No. 128) and it starts the railway line Püspökladány - Oradea (No. 101) of the MAV.
