Qaem - Shahr (Persian قائمشهر, Qā ʾ em - Sahr ) is a city in Iran on the northern edge of the Elbursgebirges. It belongs to the province of Mazandaran and had grossed in 2012 over 193,000 inhabitants.

The city is located 23 km from the provincial capital sari removed and 237 km north-east of Tehran. It is linked with these cities through a highway and the railroad.

The town changed its name twice in the 20th century: they became known in the 1930s as the destination of the first phase of construction of the Trans- Iranian Railway north as Aliabad. Under the reign of the Pahlavi Dynasty, the name was then changed to Shahi and with the revolution of 1979 finally it was renamed the "City of Qaem " which is a title of the expected Shiite Mahdi.
