Qin Mountains

The Qin Ling Mountain Range (秦岭, Qín Lǐng ) in the center of the People's Republic of China extends in a west-east direction over approximately 650 km in length ( with a width of up to 170 km) from the south of Gansu province over the entire south Shaanxi Province to the central part of Henan province.

The Taibai Shan is with 3767 m the highest mountain of Qin Ling Mountains from the north, the Weihe River and south of the river Han Jiang is limited. These two rivers drain into the two major Chinese streams.

The mountain range is thus not only a watershed between the river systems of the Yellow River and the Yangtze, but also a distinctive vegetation line. While north of the mountain range dominated dry Loess regions, which are ideal for the cultivation of wheat, starting south of the Qin Ling the warmer, more humid lands, in which alternating extensive forest regions with rice fields.
