Qingdao Jiaozhou Bay tunnel

The Jiaozhou Bay tunnel ( Qingdao Jiaozhou Bay tunnel also called ) is a road tunnel in the Shandong Province of the People's Republic of China. It crosses the entrance to Jiaozhou Bay between the city of Qingdao in the north and the district of Huangdao in the south.

Course

The overall construction begins in Qingdao at the Tuandao Road and is first performed as a six-lane road through an open, 620 m long section of the 5,550 m long tunnel with its 3,300 m long underwater section. The two tunnel tubes, each with three lanes will be performed in the south of the building by a further 620 m long open section on the Xueijia Island to light.

The deepest point of the tunnel is 70.5 m below sea level, it is located at least 25 m below the seabed of the Jiaozhou Bay. The speed limit in the tunnel is 80 km / h

Construction began December 27, 2006, the plant was commissioned on 1 July 2011, being the same day on which the Jiaozhou Bay Bridge was opened to traffic. Executing companies were the China Railway Tunnel Group and Qingdao Guoxin Industry Company Ltd. ..

The tunnel is part of the Jiaozhou Bay Connection Project, which also includes the Jiaozhou Bay Bridge, which was also inaugurated in 2011.
