Qiu Chuji

Qiu Chuji (Chinese丘处机/邱 处 机; * 1148, † 1227, and Changchun (长春/长春) or zi Changchun长春 子called ) was the fifth patriarch of the Quanzhen Daoism and a great traveler. He was one of the "Seven truthful the North" among the disciples of Wang Chongyang. He was the founder of the Taoist Dragon Gate School (Chinese龙 门派/龙 门派, Pinyin Longmen pai, English The Dragon Gate Sect ), a school of Quanzhen Taoism ( Quanzhen dao ).

Work

In the of his pupil, the Daoists Li Zhichang (Chinese李志常) ( 1193-1278 ), written travelogue Changchun Zhenren Xiyou ji ( Records of the journey of the Taoist alchemists Changchun in the West ), who also briefly as xiyouji ( records of the journey is called in the West ), about his journey through Central Asia to the Mongol ruler Genghis Khan, we learn briefly about his life.

Genghis Khan had summoned him to learn from him about the secrets of long life. This connection to the Mongol ruler owes the Quanzhen school their wide dissemination.
