Qonggyai County

Qonggyai ( Tib: ' phyongs rgyas rdzong, Tibetan: འཕྱོངས་རྒྱས་རྫོང, Chonggye Dzong ) is a county in the district of Shannan in Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. It has an area of 1,030 square kilometers and according to the 1990 census, 15,636 inhabitants, of which 15,544 Tibetans and 80 Han Chinese. ( Census 2000: 17 031 inhabitants. )

In Qonggyai are the tombs of Tibetan kings.

Administrative Divisions

At the community level, the circle from a large village and three municipalities is composed. These are:

  • Greater community Qonggyai (琼结 镇);
  • Community Gyaimain (加 麻 乡);
  • Community Xarsü (下 水乡);
  • Community Lhayü (拉 玉 乡).
