Quadruple-precision floating-point format

In computer science, four times as accurate (english quad precision) is a term for a number format that uses four storage devices in the computer. Thus, the exact details depend on the computer manufacturer and its memory architecture. In the current version of IEEE 754-2008 standards of this 128 -bit data type is described.

The term is not only reserved for floating point numbers, but also for integer formats applicable (Quad Word).
