Quartucciu

Quartucciu is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 12,947 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the Province of Cagliari in Sardinia. The municipality is situated approximately 7 km northeast of Cagliari at Lago di Simbrizzi.

History

From the period 1000-600 BC date back the giants' tombs (Sat Dom'e S'Orcu ), the back indicate that already at this time a rich culture was seated there. In the archaeological area of Pill'è Matta, there are 200 other smaller graves. This stone tower structures ( Nuraghe ) go to the same culture, so also Nuraghe Arru back. Even before the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the town was attacked by vandals.

His independence as a separate municipality until 1983 Quartucciu won back when it was removed by a referendum from the urban area of Cagliari (since 1928).

Traffic

Quartucciu is located on the ring road Strada Statale 554 Cagliaritana. Northwest of the community goes from the Strada Statale 125 Orientale Sarda. The nearest train station is in Monserrato.
