Quemadmodum

The encyclical Quemadmodum (Latin: In what way ) was on January 6, 1946 by Pope Pius XII. written. He writes "about the care of the needy children of the world".

After he, in retrospect, lamented the terrible World War, the great suffering of the people, which has spread over the whole world, he describes the importance and the plight of children. The children, he writes, suffering from cold, hunger and disease and they lack food, clothing and shelter. The ongoing assistance, referred to Pius XII. as inadequate and calls for to make every effort to ensure that the children could be helped.

He ordered that a certain day would be offered to pray for the needy children in every diocese, and pointed out that this was also a problem of society and especially the Christians, he calls for brotherhood and quotes:

"Verily I say unto you: as much as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. (Mt 25,40 EU) "

Finally, he calls for a Christian duty and calls on all institutions, agencies and organizations to turn to this problem, but he mentions particularly the people who would live in wealth and luxury.
