Quinaldine, 2- methylquinoline systematically, is a heterocyclic chemical compound. It consists of a quinoline skeleton, which is substituted in the 2 - position with a methyl group.
Production and representation
Quinaldine comes to about 0.2 % before in coal tar and can be obtained from this by suitable methods. Quinaldine goes over in the distillation of tar in the methylnaphthalene fraction together with quinoline and isoquinoline. After extraction with sulfuric acid quinaldine is separated by precipitation with ammonia from these.
Synthetics can be obtained by a Skraup quinaldine synthesis of aniline and crotonaldehyde.
Use
Quinaldine is used for the manufacture of dyes as pinacyanol, quinoline or quinaldine. It has been shown that can be used as anesthetic Chinaldinsulfat fish transport.
