Template: Infobox chemical / molecular formula search available
Quinolizidine has the structure of a nitrogen-containing heterocycle. It can also be described as the tertiary amine. It thus has weakly basic properties and is capable of salt formation.
Occurrence
Some well-known alkaloids, such as cytisine, sparteine or lupinine that occur in leguminous plants such as lupines, contain a quinolizidine basic structure. Another representative of pharmaceutical use would be as ajmaline.
Synthesis
They can be constructed stereoselectivity of α - acyliminium ion in a manner olefin carbocyclization.
