Qurnet Murai
Qurnet Murrai is a small hill west of the temple of Amenhotep III. , Which forms the southernmost part of the ancient Egyptian necropolis in Western Thebes. It houses mainly private tombs from the second half of the 18th dynasty.

On the hill there are many undecorated rock-cut tombs, of which seventeen were officially numbered. The settlement began with graves, similar to Sheikh Abd el- Qurna, during the second half of the 11th dynasty. From this period several major Saff Tombs, which are now hidden behind modern homes. The modern village caused the destruction and disappearance of numerous graves. Other tombs date from the first half of the 18th Dynasty and the Ramesside period, the vast majority, however, dates from the time of Amenhotep III. , Ay and Tutankhamun. Nearby are the funerary temple of kings and Malkatta, the palace city of Amenhotep III.
On the site of high-ranking officials were buried, including the Viceroy of Kush, Merimose and possibly also the architect Amenhotep ( son of Hapu ), who had his own mortuary temple in the vicinity.
In Coptic, the monastery of St. Mark was built on the northern part of the hill, one of the best preserved ancient Coptic buildings in Western Thebes.
