R. Crumb & His Cheap Suit Serenaders

The Cheap Suit Serenaders (including R. Crumb and his Cheap Suit Serenaders ) are an American " String Band " that plays songs from the 1920s. One of their features is that they long ago was in the 1970s, as this format as obsolete, some of their plates brought out on 78rpm records. Their three LPs that came out all on the Blue Goose label, were R. Crumb and his Cheap Suit Serenaders (1974 ), R. Crumb and his Cheap Suit Serenaders No.. 2 (1976) and R. Crumb and his Cheap Suit Serenaders No.. 3 (1978). The latter two are as CDs on Shanachie Records under the titles Chasin ' Rainbows (No. 2) and Singing in the Bathtub (No. 3) was re-released, all three also in 2002 on the Japanese label "Air Mail Recordings".

Robert Crumb was the front man and for the plate illustrations in charge of the group; He has, however, since he lives in France, largely withdrawn from their activities.
