R.E. Mouscron

Excelsior Mouscron was a football club from Belgian Mouscron, after a suspension of the Belgian Football Association no longer participated in the game operating in the First Division in 2009. 2010 merged with Excelsior Mouscron Mouscron- RRC Péruwelz Royal Péruwelz.

History

On 28 December 2009, the Belgian association issued a suspension against Excelsior Mouscron, which is tantamount to a demotion to the third Belgian league. Previously, the club announced that he can muster in two days later held league game for the third time in succession without a team. All league games of the season 2009/10, where the team has participated, were canceled. On the same day the club explained that all players may change free transfer to the club. January 2010 it was decided to merge with RRC Péruwelz to Royal Mouscron- Péruwelz. The new club plays viertklassig in the season 2010/11.

Excelsior Mouscron played at the Stade Le Canonnier, which has a seating capacity of 11,300.

Achievements

Mouscron played 14 years ( 1996/97-2009/10 ) in the Belgian first division. In the first season the team caused a stir, because they temporarily held the championship lead as movers and starred for the title. Mouscron was 1996/97 finally third, which should ultimately be the biggest success in the Erstligazeit of the association, and moved into the UEFA Cup. Here Mouscron reached only the first main round. 2002 and 2006 the team reached the Belgian Cup final, but was defeated both times. In the season 2002/ 03 Excelsior denied again four games in the UEFA Cup.
