Rabbie Namaliu

Rabbie Namaliu ( born April 3, 1947 in Kokopo, East New Britain ) was Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea of ​​1988 until 1992.

Rabbie Namaliu comes from East New Britain and belongs to the tribe of the Tolai to. He received his education in Papua New Guinea and in Canada, at the University of Victoria in Victoria, British Columbia. Prior to his political career, he was at the University of Papua New Guinea political scientist.

In 1982 he was elected for the constituency Kokopo in the parliament of Papua New Guinea. Before Namaliu became prime minister, he was from 1982 to 1984 Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of Michael Somare.
