Rachid Bouaouzan

Rachid Bouaouzan (born 20 February 1984 in Rotterdam) is a Dutch- Moroccan footballer. The winger made ​​a crunching tackle headlines, for which he was sentenced to six months in prison.

Bouaouzan started his professional career in the 2003/04 season at Sparta Rotterdam. In his second season at the Rotterdam club he made plenty of negative headlines. After a brutal foul on Niels Kokmeijer in the match against Go Ahead Eagles on December 17, 2004, he came under severe criticism. Kokmeijer had to end his career due to a broken leg complicated and the Dutch Football Federation detained Bouaouzan for twelve games. His club suspended the player until the end of season.

In addition, he was brought by the Dutch government for assault before a court, which represented a hitherto unique process in the history of Dutch football. Bouaouzan was sentenced to six months in prison and the payment of 100,000 euros damages for willful injury, this judgment was confirmed by the Supreme Court of the Netherlands in April 2008.

At the end of the season Sparta Rotterdam qualified for the play-offs and climb Bouaouzan scored in the last game against Helmond Sport the winning goal, the person entitled to participate in the Eredivisie in the 2005/06 season.
