Rachid Bouchareb

Rachid Bouchareb ( born September 1, 1953 in Paris ) is a French film director, co - director, film producer and screenwriter. He is of Algerian descent.

Life

He worked from 1977 to 1983 as an assistant director for the state's television production company in France ( SFP) and then for broadcasters TF1 and antenna 2 In addition to his work as an assistant, he developed his first short films, which in 1985 made ​​his feature film debut Baton Rouge followed. In 1988 he founded together with Jean Bréhat the production company 3B Productions. Bouchareb was represented in the Berlinale Competition with Little Senegal in 2001, with London River in 2009, and with La voie de l' ennemi ( Two Men in Town) in 2014.

2008 Bouchareb was appointed to the jury of the 61st Cannes Film Festival. Two years later he was for the film Hors- la- loi (2010), which deals with the massacre of the French army in Sétif in Algeria on 8 May 1945, invited again in the competition of the festival. Hors -la- loi 2011 was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
