Radiation treatment planning

Under the irradiation planning is understood in the context of radiotherapy, the preparation of an individual plan to localize the tumor and simultaneous sparing the healthy tissue.

Implementation

The planning is usually based on a computer-based planning system as well as on previously made CT scans of the patient. For treatment planning is by the Radiation Protection Ordinance, or Regulation X a so-called " medical physics expert " responsible. In order not to exceed the tolerance limits of the organs by means of the multiple-field technique from different angles sub-doses administered (also called isocentric irradiation).

Target

Goal of treatment planning is to isolate the tumor with a relative dose (usually 95%) and to protect the healthy tissue as best possible, for example, the multiple-field technique by aids.
