Radislav Krstić

Radislav Krstić (* February 15, 1948 in Vlasenica, Yugoslavia ) was the Bosnian war from October 1994 to July 12, 1995 Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander of the Drina Corps of the Army of Republika Srpska. He was promoted to brigadier general in June 1995. On 13 July 1995 he assumed command of the Drina Corps.

The Srebrenica massacre happened in an area which was under the responsibility of the Drina Corps, a corps of the Army of Republika Srpska. Radislav Krstić was a major general in the Army of the Republika Srpska and commander of the Drina Corps.

Radislav Krstić was arrested on December 2, 1998 by SFOR soldiers and transferred the following day to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. He was sentenced to 46 years in prison. 2004, the Appeals Chamber of the same Tribunal came to the conclusion that Krstić was not to prosecute for genocide but for complicity in genocide and reduced the sentence to 35 years in prison. Since the end of 2004, he is serving this sentence in the UK.
