Raduan Nassar

Raduan Nassar ( born November 27, 1935 in Pindorama, São Paulo) is a Brazilian writer of Lebanese descent.

Life

His Greek Orthodox father and Protestant mother (born Chafika Cassis ) emigrated in 1920 from southern Lebanon to Brazil (São Paulo). In 1935 Raduan Nassar as the seventh son of the ten children of the family to the world. The father, Joao Nassar, allowed them as a rising businessman a solid education. Nassar documented studies in the fields of law, literature, sociology and philosophy. In 1963 he finished his studies in philosophy from the owner. A subsequent trip to Germany ( Lüneburg) and a visit to the family home in Lebanon, he had to cancel due to a military coup in native Brazil.

In 1967 he founded the dissident weekly newspaper " Jornal do Bairro ". His debut novel Lavoura arcaica (English title: " The bread of the Patriarch " ) was established in 1975 a huge success in Brazil, Brazilian received several literary prizes and was translated into several languages ​​( Spanish, French and German ).
