Raebareli (Hindi: रायबरेली, Urdu: رائے بریلی; Rāybarelī [ rɑ ː ː li ː jbʌre ]; also Rae Bareli, Rai Bareli ) is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh with around 190,000 inhabitants ( 2011 census ). It is located 80 kilometers south of Lucknow and 120 kilometers north- west of Allahabad on the banks of the river Sai in the region of Awadh ( Oudh ) in Central Uttar Pradesh. The city is the administrative center of the district of Raebareli.

Raebareli has some significant monuments from the time of Islamic rule. Beginning of the 15th century conquered Ibrahim Shah, the Sultan of Jaunpur, Raebareli. He let renew the fort and built the Friday Mosque ( Jama Masjid ). During the Mughal period in the 17th century was the governor appointed by Shah Jahan Jahan Khan in the suburb Jahanabad build a palace, and a mausoleum for himself.

Raebareli is considered as a political bastion of the Nehru - Gandhi dynasty. Both Feroze Gandhi (1951 and 1957 ), Indira Gandhi (1967 and 1980), Arun Nehru (1984 ) as last Sonia Gandhi (2004 and 2009) were elected from the constituency Raebareli in the Lok Sabha.
