Rafael Arévalo

Rafael Arévalo González ( born July 4, 1986 in Sonsonate ) is a Salvadoran tennis player.

Arévalo participates in the professional tournaments of the ITF since 2003. He plays mainly Futures tournaments, of which he won in a double between 2005 and 2009, two in singles and five. Since 2003, Arévalo is a member of the Salvadoran Davis Cup team and has since been called 33 in the selection. With a total of 42 victories, he is the most successful player of his country.

On 31 March 2008 the Tennis World Federation (ITF ) announced Arévalo 'll get one of two to be issued invitations for the men's singles of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. He was the first tennis player from El Salvador who represented his country in that sport at the Olympics. In the first round he won against the far better -placed in the world ranking South Korean Lee Hyung- taik with 4:6, 6:3 and 6:4. In the second round he left then with 2:6, 4:6 against Roger Federer.
