Rafael Pinhasi

Rafael Pinchasi (Hebrew רפאל פנחסי; * 1940 in Kabul, Afghanistan, UK ) is a former Israeli politician. Pinchasi was December 2, 1985 to December 22, 1988 Deputy Minister of Welfare and Social Services, further he was from 15th January 1990 to June 11, 1990 Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs. Then he was on June 11, 1990 to July 13, 1992 Minister of Communications. After that he was from 4 August 1992 to 31 December 1992, Deputy Minister of Finance. Then he was on December 31, 1992 to September 14, 1993 Deputy Minister for services to religion.

Life

His family immigrated to Israel in 1950. He was one of the founders of the Shas Party and was vice mayor of Bnei Brak. In 1984 he was Member of the Knesset on the electoral list of Shas and was appointed on December 2, 1985 Deputy Minister of Welfare and Social Services; he held until December 22, 1988 this office. In the elections of 1988 he retained his seat and was President of the Parliament. On January 15, 1990, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, where he held that office until 11 June 1990. On 11 June of the same year he was reappointed as Minister of Communications, and held that post but only until July 13, 1992, because there had already begun for the 1992 Israeli elections. In the elections of 1992, he was confirmed in his mandate and was then appointed on 4 August of the same year as Deputy Minister of Finance. He held that office until he was appointed on 31 December 1992 as Deputy Minister for services to religion, he held this office until September 14, 1993 held. Pinchasi was forced in September 1993 to give up his seat after he was sentenced by the Supreme Court in Israel for misrepresentation, an offense that was regarded as morally reprehensible ( "moral turpitude "). He was re-elected in 1996 but lost his seat in the elections of 1999. 2008 he was appointed Chairman of the Tel Aviv cemetery Council.
