Ragnitz is a municipality with 1440 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in Leibnitz district in the Austrian state of Styria.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Badendorf, Haslach and Ragnitz.

History

The local church as an autonomous body created in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to Reichsgau Styria, 1945-1955, she was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

Policy

Mayor Rudolf Rauch ( ÖVP); Vice Mayor Manfred sunko (ÖVP ) Municipal Treasurer Rudolf Gründl (ÖVP ). The council is made up after the elections of 2010 as follows: 11 ÖVP, SPÖ 2, 2 FPÖ.

Coat of arms

The award of the municipality coat of arms came into effect on 1 January 1992. Coat Description: Azure, a bar, in a forward red cancer in the upper field of three vertical rectangular, openwork, at the corners with clover leaves besteckten golden castle, in the lower panel of three ( 2: 1) golden Seeblättern accompanied.

Sports

In 2009 the construction of the Julius Meinl stadium was started and also finished in Ragnitz. The construction costs amount to almost one million euros, which is financed by Julius Meinl, an honorary citizen of the community, was very relieved. The lawn was overhauled to prepare the stadium premier league accordingly. The stadium consists of a grandstand that allows about 500 spectators.
