Raheel Sharif

Raheel Sharif ( born June 16, 1956 in Quetta ) is a Pakistani general and acting army chief of the country.

Family

Sharif, who is not related with the Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, comes from a famous family in Pakistan with a military background. His father, Muhammad Sharif, a major in the Pakistani army. His brother Shabbir Sharif fell in 1971 in the war against India and was posthumously awarded the highest military awards of the country.

Raheel Sharif is married and has three children.

Sharif was most recently responsible for most of the education and training of Pakistani soldiers. He sat there a, Ashfaq Parvez Kayani enforced by, priority shift by. Appointment as Chief of Army Staff

On November 27, 2013 Sharif was appointed as the new army chief of the country. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif went over two higher-ranking generals in this election. Even predecessor, Kayani had recommended another General. Background may be that Raheel Sharif is considered apolitical.
