Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi ( born June 19, 1970 in New Delhi ) is an Indian politician and the Congress Party member of the Indian Parliament.

Life

He is the son of Sonia and Rajiv Gandhi, a grandson of Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and great-grandson of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. In 1991 he lost his father Rajiv Gandhi, who was also prime minister of India, is assassinated.

Until 2002, he stayed away from politics and worked as a financial consultant in London before he returned to India in August 2004.

He won in the parliamentary elections in 2004, situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh constituency Amethi and pulled so in the Indian Parliament. In the same constituency had previously been a candidate by his mother and father. In 2007 he became a leading candidate of the Indian Congress Party to in the regional elections in Uttar Pradesh and there was 8.53 percent of the vote to win for his party.

Subsequently, he was appointed by his mother as General Secretary of the Congress Party. In this role, he was instrumental to the victory of the party in the national elections of 2009. In the federal state elections in Uttar Pradesh in 2012, he joined again as the top candidate. His party was able to only 23 of 403 seats in the state parliament win and was fourth strongest force.

Union Far he is medially presented as future leaders of the Congress Party and appears on party billboards next to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and party leader Sonia Gandhi.
