Raimkul Malakhbekov

Raimkul Chudojnasarowitsch Malachbekow (Russian Раимкуль Худойназарович Малахбеков; born August 16, 1974 in Dushanbe, Tajik SSR, Soviet Union ) is a former Russian amateur boxer.

Career

The southpaw Malachbekow was founded in 1993 in Bursa at the age of 19 years European Champion Bantamweight (-54 kg), he suggested there including the two -time world champion ( in flies and featherweight ) and Olympic champion István Kovács. Overall, he reached in his career until 2002 with five European Championships the following medals: 1996 in Vejle, he won silver, he said Hungary Kovács lost the final in 1998 in Minsk, he took a third place, and in 2000 he was again in Tampere Second, and then in 2002 in Perm featherweight ( -57 kg ) for the second time to become European champions. Malachbekow also won the world title twice. At the championships in Berlin in 1995, he defeated inter alia the Olympic champion Joel Casamayor of Cuba. In 1997, he defended his title in Budapest.

In 1996 he participated for Russia at the Olympic Games in Atlanta, where he failed in the semifinals at the Cuban representative Arnaldo Mesa and thus won the bronze medal. At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, he lost the final to the Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux and won silver.

Malachbekow moved to his sports career in politics and became a member of parliament of the Republic of Kalmykia. He lives with his family in Elista.
