Raimundo Rolón

Raimundo Rolón Anti Villa ( born March 14, 1903 in Paraguarí, † December 17, 1981 in Asunción ) was a Paraguayan general and briefly President of Paraguay.

Life

After schooling Rolón joined the military and in 1923 a sub-lieutenant of artillery in 1926 and promoted to lieutenant. In 1929, he was used as a captain in the artillery group 2 Capitán Roa before was promoted to Major during the Chacokrieges 1932 to 1935 in 1933. As a lieutenant colonel, he was shortly thereafter Chief of Operations of the General Staff. In 1939 he was first promoted to colonel in 1947 and eventually promoted to brigadier general.

On 13 June 1948 he was appointed by President Juan Manuel Frutos defense minister in his cabinet, and held that office under Frutos ' successor Juan González Natalicio to 29 January 1949.

On 30 January 1949 he was instrumental in the overthrow of President González and then took over the office of President. After only 28 days of presidential Rolón itself was sold on February 27, 1949 by a coup and Felipe Molas López, a former mayor of Asunción, replaced as president.

After posts in the civil administration, he was chief of police in Asunción, Ambassador in Brazil and director of Customs and ports. Later he became a member of the Senate.
