Rainer Henkel
Rainer Henkel ( born February 27, 1964 in Opladen ) is a former German swimmer.
At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 he won the bronze medal with the German 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. He was also World Champion 1986 on 400 m and 1500 m Freestyle and European Champion 1987 on the long distance as well as in the relay 4 × 200 m freestyle. Overall, he brought it to his playing days at 21 German league titles. He started for the SV Rhenaniastraße Cologne and was trained by Gerhard Hetz and Elmar Schneider.
Rainer Henkel was married from 1989 to 2001 with the German high jumper Heike Henkel. From this marriage two children come.
After his swimming career Henkel contested race car, but it had no significant success.
