Raja Raja Chola I

Rajaraja Chola I ( Tamil இராஜராஜ சோழன் Irājarāja Colan, † 1014 ) was a king of the Tamil Chola dynasty. He came after the death of his brother Adithya II to power and reigned 985-1014 AD Rajaraja led the flower of his dynasty here by extended the kingdom to Sri Lanka in the south, and Kalinga ( Odisha ) in the northeast. He waged war against the Chalukya in the north and the Pandyas in the south. With the conquest of the Chalukya capital Vengi Rajaraja established a branch line of the Chola in the Chalukya empire.

Rajaraja reformed the administrative system by he divided his empire into individual districts. Under his rule, the Brihadisvara temple was built in Thanjavur. His son Rajendra Chola I brought the empire to its greatest extent.
