Rajalakshmi Engineering College

Rajalakshmi Engineering College (REC ) is a technical university in Thandalam, near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

The college was founded in 1997 by the Rajalakshmi Educational Trust and has been approved in New Delhi by the All India Council of Technical Education ( AICTE ). It is a subsidiary of Anna University in southern India. 2000 it obtained a certificate for academic standard by the TÜV South Germany (ISO9001 ). The College is situated near Hyundai Motors and SIPCOT.

History

The first years

In 1997 the university was granted permission to conduct engineering degree programs in the fields of mechanical engineering, electronics and information technology. The college town office in New Avadi Road, Kilpauk (near Purasawalkam ) in Chennai was established in 1997.

Expansion

In 1999 the college with 11 undergraduate and postgraduate basic programs in electrical and electronic information technology in 1999, followed by automotive engineering in 2006. Aviation and space technology were added in 2005, as well as biomedical engineering and biotechnology. Bachelor and Master programs, a construction division ( Architecture ) followed.
