The Rajamangala National Stadium ( Thai: สนาม ราช มั ง คลา กีฬา สถาน, pronunciation: [ sàʔnǎ ː m râ ː tt͡ɕ ʰ áʔmaŋk ʰ áʔla ː ki ː la ː sàtǎ ː n], literally: "Sports Ratchamangkhala field "; engl: Rajamangala National Stadium. ) With 60,000 seats, the largest football stadium in Thailand. It is part of the Hua Mak Sports Complex in the district of Hua Mak, Bang Kapi district which belongs to the east of the capital, Bangkok.

History

The multifunctional stadium was built for the Asian Games 1998. It is covered only on the grandstand side. It has a large video screen and a track and field facility. In the Rajamangala Stadium, the U-19 World Cup, the Asian Cup 2007 and the 2007 Universiade found next to the Asian Games in 1998, women in 2004, instead. The stadium is also used for home games of the Thai national football team.

Inside the stadium there is the National Sports Museum. Among many other exhibits, we find such memorabilia sporting careers of the current Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who in 1967 won the gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games.

December 10, 2004 Music Bakery celebrated a record company from Thailand, its 10th anniversary. It was the first time that the Rajamangala Stadium held a concert of this magnitude. The concert lasted seven hours and there were 94 songs listed.

The stadium was renovated for the Asian Cup in 2007 and converted into a pure -seater stadium. It has since then up to 60,000 spectators.

Until the construction of the Rajamangala Stadium Suphachalasai was the national stadium of Thailand. For this reason, today is also the name of the Bangkok Skytrain stop on Suphachalasai " National Stadium ". Rajamangala National Stadium is linked neither to the Skytrain or the power of the Bangkok Metro. It is also located near the Ramkhamhaeng University and Assumption University (ABAC ).

During the floods in Thailand 2011 homeless people were housed in the stadium. The stadium will be one of four venues of the ASEAN Football Championship 2012.

On December 15th and 16th 2012, the Race of Champions was held at the Rajamangala National Stadium.
