Rájec (Šumperk District)

Rájec ( German Großrasel ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located three kilometers southeast of Zábřeh and belongs to Okres Šumperk.

Geography

Rájec located on the stream Rajecky creek on the northeast waste of Mirovská Highlands ( Mürauer Bergland ) for Mohelnická Brázda ( Müglitzer furrow ). The village is located on the right side of the Moravian Sázava immediately before their confluence with the Morava. The place is in the east bypass of the state road 44 between Zábřeh and Mohelnice and the railway line from Olomouc to Zábřeh. The nearest train station is Zábřeh. To the south, the hill rises Hlína (335 m).

Neighboring towns are Ráječek in the north, Leština in the northeast, Vitosov in the east, in the southeast Hrabova, Zvole and Slavoňov in the south, and Krchleby Pobučí the southwest, Jestřebí in the west and Skalička in the northwest.

History

According to archaeological finds, was located in the corridors of the community, a settlement site of the Lusatian culture. The first written mention of Rájec took place in 1273 in a certificate issued for the Müglitzer judge of the diocese of Olomouc. The place was in 1320 have been sufficient, together with other villages as episcopal fief to a lower landed gentry. Subsequently changed as owner of the farm and village several small noble families, some of which the predicate of Rájec zulegten itself. 1408 was the relocation of the Episcopal Lehnsadministration of Müglitz the castle Mürau. During the fighting between Matthias Corvinus and Georg von Podiebrad to the Bohemian crown came from 30 September to 1 October 1468 between Rájec and Zvole to a battle between Czech and Hungarian troops. In the United Raasel a village school was established in 1820. 1834 Theodorow had 320 inhabitants and consisted of 55 houses; in Great Raasel were 51 houses with 318 inhabitants.

After the abolition of patrimonial Rájec / Great Rasel was formed in 1850 with the district Theodorov a municipality in the district chief city. Between 1867 and 1923 formed Theodorov own municipality and was then reconnected to Rájec. Rájec consisted in 1900 of 58 houses and 309 inhabitants had. In the 54 houses of Theodorov lived at the same time 287 people. 1930 the community had 613 inhabitants Rájec which 612 Czechs and a German. After the Munich Agreement in 1938 Großrasel annexed to the German Reich and belonged until 1945 to the district chief city. 1939 lived 588 people in the community. 1950 Rájec had 505 inhabitants and consisted of 122 houses. At the end of 1960, the Okres Zábřeh was disbanded and assigned to the municipality the Okres Šumperk. In 1991, the city of 124 residential buildings consisted of 453 residents. The community performs a coat of arms.
