RAL colour standard

As RAL color is called normalized colors RAL gGmbH sells ( a daughter of the RAL Institute ) under the name RAL Classic. The name is derived from the Reich Committee for delivery, which was founded on 23 April 1925 in Berlin and served the rationalization of the German economy.

Each color of the color catalog is assigned a four -digit color number. This standardization goes back to a table of 40 colors, which was created in 1927 by the Reich Committee on Delivery (RAL ). The advantage of such standardization is that the customer and supplier to exchange only a RAL number and no color pattern on a defined material. Meanwhile RAL Classic includes 213 tones. Most of the new shades of major German companies were added, so the colors telemagenta, Tele gray 1 and Tele gray 2 were added for example 1992.

By 1940, the RAL colors were converted to the four-digit system, as is customary today. Patterns of the army was recognized until 1944 always by a "7" or "8" in the first place.

The color samples are carried out in two performances:

  • Color register RAL 840-HR with a matte finish
  • Color register RAL 841 -GL with a gloss finish.

RAL Classic color is not a system but a color collection since except for a rough classification by color lacks any color scheme. As the RAL color system design system brought the RAL Institute released in 1993.
