Ralf Metzenmacher

Ralf Metzmacher ( born July 26, 1964 in Aachen ) is a German painter and designer.

Life

Metzmacher studied from 1986 to 1991 object and product design with a focus on painting and drawing at the University of Applied Sciences Aachen with Christiane Maether and Ulf Hege forest. From 1991 to 2004 he was employed as a designer of Puma AG. He most recently served as Director responsible for the areas of Europe and Footwear Accessories International. Metzmacher put - like Michael Michalsky at adidas - older Puma products in the " retro look " successful scratch. He was instrumental in the restructuring of the sporting goods manufacturer to an international sports lifestyle brand. Since 2004 he has worked as a freelance artist. He lives and works in Bamberg.

Painting

Since the early 1980s, Metzmacher has demonstrably related to the painting. During his studies, and in addition to his work as a designer, he painted numerous paintings (genre scenes and still lifes ) that " the other world" ( self-published ) are documented in his book. He sees himself as a representative and so-called " leader " of retro style painting: a synthesis / combination of art and design. Metzmacher pop surreal retro style also sees itself as a " revitalization " of still-life painting of the 17th century and as a " development " of pop art.

The brothers Kai and Thorsten Wingenfelder, founder of the rock band Fury in the Slaughterhouse, composed and produced for five paintings by Ralf Metzmacher the matching "Picture Music ".

In the current cycle of paintings entitled " A journey to the Holy Land sham " deals Metzmacher with the themes of religion, politics and power.
