Ralf Pönitzsch

Ralf Pönitzsch ( born October 20, 1957 in Karl- Marx-Stadt ) is a retired German athlete who - for the German Democratic Republic ( East Germany) starting - 1980 participated in the Olympics.

Pönitzsch won in 1976 with 18 years in the GDR championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. His time of 8:31,2 min meant junior world record, two weeks later he improved his record in Warsaw to 8:29,50 min. In 1977 he successfully defended his championship title successfully. After Pönitzsch 1978 was not taken up in the GDR Championships, he won two league titles in 1979: in addition to the obstacle course he was victorious in the 5000 -meter run. 1980 Pönitzsch in the hall over 3000 meters runner behind Hansjörg Kunze, but shortly thereafter won the champion in cross-country running.
