Rally of Turkey

The Rally of Turkey was first held in 2003 as a round of the World Rally Championship. The rally is similar in composition, structure and stress those in Cyprus and Greece. The special stages are driven on rough gravel, which particularly stressed the tires. Starting location is Antalya, the target is located in Kemer.

History

A first-ever Rally of Turkey was unofficially in 1972, starting and finishing in Istanbul. In 2000, a two-day rally was held at Izmir under the observation of the FIA. It was then decided to include the Rally of Turkey as a World Championship race. 2003 then the first Rally of Turkey was started despite a controversial discussion about the weather conditions in the mountains of Anatolia.
