Rama VI Bridge

The Rama VI. Bridge ( Thai สะพาน พระราม 6) is a railway bridge in Bangkok, which crosses the Chao Phraya River and the two districts of Bang Sue and Bang Phlat together.

The Rama VI. Bridge was the first bridge over the Chao Phraya River, was built and inaugurated on January 1, 1926, before it was destroyed in World War II for the first time in 1922 during the reign of King Vajiravudh (Rama VI. ). The goal was to connect the capital Bangkok with the provinces in southern Thailand by rail. It was built in 1950-1953 and again re-opened on 12 December 1953.

The bridge has two rail lines and a pedestrian crossing. She has five spans with 77.26 meters, 83.46 meters, 120.00 meters, 83.46 meters and 77.26 meters wingspan. With a total length of 441 meters it is the largest railway bridge in Thailand.
